The Oscar is considered the most important award for the movie industry. And its red carpet is the most talked about of the whole red carpet season. Because of that, Hollywood stars usually dress in a more ‘classic beauty’ way. There is not much space to be creative and fashion forward. But this year things got a little different, we got beautiful fashionable dresses and some socio-political statements from actresses through their clothes.
One of the best dressed of the night was Kristen Wiig in Valentino. The ruffles in the skirt is different from what we usually see, it fits her perfectly and the leather gloves takes it to another level. Saoirse Ronan wore a custom Gucci gown which had de bodice made with the leftover fabric from her BAFTAs outfit.
Sandra Oh owned the red carpet the moment she stepped in it with her Elie Saab dress. The sleeves make it the perfect amount of over-the-top thanks to the neutral-ish color of the fabric.
If you look Natalie Portman’s look from far away, it can seem a bit meh. The embroidery is beautiful on the bodice, but the rest of the look has nothing special. Except the she had the name of multiple female directors that were snubbed by the academy.
